Located on North Captiva Island, in Safety Harbor Club, this comfortable home is conveniently located near beaches, pools, and boat docks. It is nestled among the native palms, and has a private, wildlife-friendly setting you will love. North Captiva is a bridge-less, car-free island situated in between the coastal barrier islands of Captiva and Cayo Costa. Transportation to the island is provided by scheduled water taxis, private charter, or your own boat.   The island has over 5 miles of pristine sandy beaches to explore and the southern portion includes over 350 acres of protected state park land.  Golf carts, bicycles, and sandy feet are the typical mode of transportation (shoes are optional). 

 

Guests of Gumbo Limbo will be registered with both The Island Club at North Captiva and the Safety Harbor Club and will have use of their amenities including their 3 large pools, tennis courts, private beach access and use of sea kayaks and bicycles.

 

Through special arrangement with the host (boat registration and insurance information provided for Safety Harbor Club) boat dock space can be used at the Safety Harbor Club wharf.  With, or without a boat, guests will enjoy fishing, wildlife watching or enjoying sunrises and moonrises from the harbor docks.  

 

Gumbo Limbo is available for up to 6 guests.  The first level of the house includes the living and dining areas, the first floor porches and decks, an outdoor shower, the kitchen, first floor bedroom and bathroom.  There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a couch with queen pull out bed in the living area.  The second level (accessed by spiral staircase) includes 2 full size beds, an attached bathroom with bathtub/shower, and a small outdoor deck (perfect for star gazing or sun bathing).  Starlink internet service offers fast reliable internet for guests.

 

Gumbo Limbo's rates do not include the use of a golf cart.  In order to keep rental rates low, the golf cart business is left to others who know how to best maintain and deliver this service.  Guests can rent a golf cart from Barrier Island Carts (best rate), The Island Club, or Boats and Fun.  Please ask us to send you a FAQs page with these contacts.

 

All photos of Gumbo Limbo were taken after Hurricane Ian.  Gumbo Limbo weathered the 2022 storm with no damage and North Captiva is back to "paradise" status. Beautiful beaches are only a 5-minute walk from Gumbo Limbo.  They are spectacular with white sugar sand and and clear sparkling waters teeming with amazing wildlife. The Safety Harbor pool and tennis courts are a short distance from the house and can easily be accessed by foot. The Safety Harbor Club wharf and docks have been recently been rebuilt and offer a great place to fish or dock your boat.  The Over The Waterfront restaurant is serving up delicious meals (reservations required) and is highly recommended!  The Island Club is also a short walk from Gumbo Limbo.  The pools are sparkling clean and the Mangos poolside bar and grill are open and serving tasty food and drinks. The Club's Island Market has fun merchandise, a coffee bar and ice cream shop to enjoy! Both The Island Club and Island Girl Charters are providing regular daily scheduled water taxi service to the island.
